| | Gackt - Mizerable | ] | Catch up time!!! I still blame dial-up internet for my lack of presence on the internet. That just makes it all the more difficult to take my online art class too :P. However, classes at IVY tech are extremely easy after Earlham. I never got a 100 on an Earlham test before... After this class is over, I'll finally be able to get my diploma! .... That is... AFTER I pay the remaining balance owed to Earlham *sigh*. Found a program to get me back to Japan!! MAET (Morioka Assistant English Teacher). I think they're only taking 4 people, so wish me luck! If I get in, maybe I'll go a little early and hang out in Tokyo for a while. Hmmmmmm... who do I know in Tokyo..... Anyway, I'm having a little trouble finding a job, which sucks. I need to make some money to take to Japan! Started playing a game called Horror Clix. Fun geeky stuff. Dressed up like a generic vampire for Halloween. Read all of Bleach. Guess that's all.

P.S. Sarah's lj is endlessly entertaining.

| | FFXII- Nalbina Dungeon | ] | I can't believe it's time for students to go back to school already. 3 months out of college, woah. I can feel my brain turning to mush in the absence of my roomies' stimulating conversation. This place is a cultural wasteland. On a more positive note, I've started coloring my senior project, with the help of my Wacom drawing tablet! Finally decided to buy one, and it's a lot of fun. Don't expect to see the project anytime soon, though. This is going to take a while. Still haven't finished FFXII yet, but I have gotten my main characters to level 99 (Wallows in pathetic geekiness). Speaking of wallowing in FFXII geekiness, happy birthday to StephSteph! Not much else to say, sadly enough... my computer battery is dying. |

| | Danny Elfman - Edward Scissorhands Theme | ] | The world is coming to an end. Stephanie would be proud. My favorite character in my latest anime addiction (Hunter X Hunter) is none other than the creepy, psycopathic pervert. Oh the shame. Things I've done since my last update (that I can remember at the moment): Went to a tea ceremony (casual), felt an earthquake, went to an onsen, held a really old katana, gotten addicted to two seperate manga (aformentioned HxH and Death Note), bought a DVD, wanko soba (110 bowls, baby!), bought a Japanese video game, gotten sick from eating too much Haichuu, cussed because the English teacher wanted to know an English cuss word, saw a Noh play, met a Japanese nun, played DDR in an arcade, and watched Full House on Japanese TV. So, nothing too exciting, ne? I feel a little disconnected from Earlham, since StephSteph and SerSer seem to have forgotten the existence of AIM. Just have to satisfy myself with SerSer's lj updates and StephSteph's facebook poking. Still got 3 weeks left here, but I have the overwhelmingly sad feeling that it is already over. It's been tough, that's for sure, but there's so much I'll miss. Still, I need to get home to my family, including my extremely premature little neice. Oh, did I forget to mention that? Josceline Demi Christine Gandy was born about 3 weeks ago. She was due in late January. However, she's doing fine. Nothing much else to say. |

| | Angela - Shangri-La | ] | I was "persuaded" by two harpies... er.... friends to finally write an email about what I'm doing in Japan. Well, most recently, I got back from a trip to Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Tokyo. In Miyajima (near Hiroshima) I petted the pretty deeries. They were very cute and very tame deer. It was neat to see them walking around the shrine grounds. We also met an A-bomb survivor and heard her story. She was very sweet and had a pretty smile. Everyone in the group was very pleased when she started dissing Bush. She said the America of today is a lot different than the America she fell in love with. In Kyoto, we tried our hand at yuzen dying. It's a dying technique usually used on kimono. I painted a folding fan, but it didn't turn out very good. Everyone else's looked so cool, but I was the only one to do the folding fan. Guess I could use the excuse that the texture and super-thin cloth of the fan made it difficult to dye. We also went to a fusion cuisine restuarant. If you don't already know, fusion cuisine means torture. The food was fine, but they just kept bringing more courses! I was relieved when they finally brought the dessert. I liked Tokyo. Many pretty lights. Also many great restuarants. I really like katsudon and katsu currey now. I bought some manga, some recent Naruto and Death Note. I know StephSteph has probably already bought them all, but I couldn't resist. Other than that, I have bought some Saiyuki Reload and Hunter X Hunter. I also went to a bar that I bet Steph might have frequented. Twas called The Hub. Had me a Tarantula and a beer. Beer is nasty, but the Tarantula was quite tasty. Tomorrow I get to go to my host school and give my Tokyo omiyage! I can't wait! I really love it at my host school. The students are so friendly. True, none of the English teachers are very good at speaking English, but they're very nice. Today was the first real day of school at Iwate University, I wonder where all those cute guys were hiding until now.... opps, sorry SammySam ^_^. There! That aughta be a good enough entry to keep you happy for a while. StephSteph and SerSer, no more onslaughts of emails or you can forget any omiyage! ..... Ok, that's a lie, but I'll... glare at you... really hard.... from the other side of the planet...... yeah. |

| | Gackt - Redemption | ] | It's been a while. It's not that I have nothing to talk about, but words cannot describe how excited I have been all summer. I know I'll have fun in Japan. I just recently got a description of my host family. Not exactly what I expected, but who knows, it might be better than I expected. I'm staying with 70-year-old Ryoko-kaasan. She lives alone, but her mother and sister live across the street, and her brother who speaks English well lives nearby. It's pretty easy to tell why they put me with her. She taught ceramics to SICE students in the past, and her sister is a fine arts teacher. Could that be any more perfect? I certainly hope I like the food, I don't want to offend my host mother. On another note that needs to be caught up on, little Benjamin is sooooo CUTE! He can't crawl yet, but he can roll across the carpet pretty well. And Erin's pregnant again!!! I hope it's a girl. I got my wisdom teeth removed last week. Ouchies. I was also lucky enough to get this lovely complication called dry socket. Basically, the incision didn't close and my jaw bone is exposed. Not comfortable, and it will take a month to heal. ...my jaw hurts. I finally got caught up on the Naruto manga, or at least as much as narutofan.com has to offer. That's up to chapter 314, and I'm still hooked. I'm at home right now; that means dial-up. I can't even watch movies on youtube. Looks like I'll have to wait til spring before I can watch more Japanese Naruto episodes. :P Most of the English voices suck, can't stand to watch it. Spring has me a little worried. The plan was that I'd join the quad when I got back. There's a guy staying there fall semester, though. I'm afraid that he'll refuse to move out, leaving me to the Earlham housing system my senior year. The rules say he's allowed to do that. I don't know him all that well, but first impression leaves me to believe he's too nice to do that. However, I've not been known for my good judge of character. I guess all I can do is cross my fingers and hope he finds someplace else to stay spring semester. I miss StephSteph and SerSer!!! Last semester was so lonely. I know spring is gonna be a blast! Now if only StephSteph would teach me that phrase that makes perverts go away... |

I'm afraid I don't do a very good job of emulating her. On another note, I've been watching Naruto on the internet. I didn't know I could do that. ^_^ I just start loading 4 episodes when I wake up in the morning and when I'm done with classes, they're all ready to watch! That makes me happy. | | E Nomine - Mitternacht | ] | Man this semester is going to be hard. My Japanese class is kicking my butt (ha, you thought I was going to say the a-word, didn't you?), Ceramics is eating up all my time, and I am being burried under all the readings for Art of the American Soutwest and Traditional Japan. Quite difficult to keep up with my work and stay entertained, but I manage. In my scant spare time, I've picked up Memoirs of a Geisha and started playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I've been trying to get out more often too. Just today I went to see the Kinsey Sicks, a dragapella group. Quite lude, but very funny and talented. I'll admit I've engaged in etertaining activities when I should be doing homework, like ordering Chinese and watching PotC when I should be studying my kanji and reading about Indian pottery. However, if the lazy procrastination surprises you, you don't know me very well ^_^.
Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. Trust Erin to give birth to a boy with natural highlights. In other news, I've had my nose burried in a Gameboy SP since Christmas. Pokemon Sapphire has devoured my soul. And now, I'm back at college in my nice clean dorm room. Any bets on how long it will stay that way? Anyway, that's my Christmas Break in review. Short review. Very short review. Yeah... It plays Children of the Sandstorm, which is a mix of a song called Children and a song called Sandstorm. Then, after that, it randomly plays Sandstorm. It was so ironic. Coincidence or not, I didn't want to listen to the song again, even if it was a different mix. I press the "Next" button, and it randomly plays Children! Try calculating the chances on that (I know you won't). Well, it made me laugh, even if the story doesn't sound so funny now. *speaking fast* Just got back from home (went home for the weekend). Of course, being the GENIOUS that I am, I didn't do homework until tonight. GAH! It's WAY too late and this whole 2-dimensional diffusion graphing is WAY too hard! I SWEAR every time I see the word "spreadsheet" from this day on, I'll cry. I know I should be working on it right now instead of complaining about it on my LJ, but I seriously needed a break! And I still have Japanese homework to do! I'm gonna work on that now and finish up the stupid math afterwards. Who knows, I might not even do it.
Neeeeeeed Sleeeeeeeeeep. So hyper-stressed-tired.
On another note, I updated my website. Only two drawings, but how many exceptional pictures can I be expected to draw in a month? I certainly got in a little more photoshop practice with one of them.
On another-nother note, I saw Corpse Bride AND Advent Children this weekend. Corpse Bride was everything you'd expect of Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Danny Elfman (though I must say, his songwriting has improved since NbC). Advent Children was AMAZING. The graphics... The nostalgia... The bishies... *sigh*. And I'm sure it's been said before, but Loz's ringtone rocks!
Well, I've already spent too much time writing this. Must continue homeworking. Think if I cut off my hands, I can get out of going to class tomorrow? No? Drat. |

| | Eden - To Destination | ] | Ok, I just got back from Asian American History class. Today's class was so weird...
Audience: How weird was it?
It was so weird that I'm updating my livejournal for the second time in a month just to tell you about it.
Audience: *gasps of astonishment*
From the very start, I knew this was not going to be an ordinary class. The tables in the room were arranged as two squares when we came in. Since we would have to rearrage them to fit everybody anyway, some of my classmates decided it would be a great opportunity to practice their abstract art. We ended up with this strange arrangement like a rectangle, triangle, and hexagon put together. The look on our professor's (Chuck Yates) face when he came in was priceless. Shortly after he had sat down he suddenly said "Well this is embarassing, it says right on the syllabus 'Bring your book to class'". Chuck had forgotten his book. Then, a classmate came in with a puppy. It was a cute little blonde, part-husky dog named Meesha that was given the freedom to roam about the room for the entire class. Trust me, no one could focus on Asian American History. Meesha then became the butt of many jokes. A student asked a question about a treaty in our reading. Right then, Meesha barked. Not missing a beat, Chuck responded with, "We need more than a one-word answer". After Chuck had left the room to look up the treaty, another student, David, started leading the discussion about racism. Meesha started barking again. David chuckled, "She's feeling discriminated. Why aren't there more puppies in this class?" Things got even funnier when Meesha decided to take a bathroom break right in the middle of the classroom. As her owner left the room to get some paper towels, Chuck jumped in with, "Well, now we know what Meesha thinks of this discussion." Yeah, I did come out of the class with some information intact. We learned about whiteness and german shepards and dachshunds and mules and breeding. Wait, what was this class again? |
